Lebanon Boys Swim Opens Season With First Place Finish
By Lebanon Now Staff ·

Lebanon finished the meet with 232 points, 49 points ahead of the nearest team!
“The team was looking to defend the school’s first-ever top finish last year, and just like last year, it was possible,” Lebanon coach David Krev said.
Yellowjackets Start Strong
Freshmen Jessie Moppin and Matthew Shoemaker teamed with sophomore AJ Fisher and junior Jackson Guthrie to finish third in the opening relay, missing second place by just three-quarters of a second.
Guthrie was joined by Hunter Fore in the 200-yard freestyle, with the Lebanon swimmers finishing fourth and fifth.
From there, Lebanon began to take control of the meet.
Senior Jackson Fisher captured first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a state-qualifying time of 25.81 seconds, while senior Wesley Frey finished 11th.
AJ Fisher added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, and Jackson Fisher followed with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Fisher’s performance also gave him his second state-qualifying time of the meet.
More Points and State Qualifying Performances
Guthrie, Lebanon’s lone entry in the 400-yard freestyle, earned a first-place finish.
Jackson Fisher, Shoemaker, Frey and Braden Johnson then combined for a second-place relay finish while recording another state-qualifying time for Lebanon.
Moppin finished sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, while Shoemaker earned second place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Lebanon finished the meet the same way it spent much of the day, near the front of the field.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jackson Fisher, AJ Fisher, Moppin and Shoemaker captured first place to close out the scoring.
Lebanon Finishes on Top
When the final scores were totaled, Lebanon stood at the top of the eight-school field with 232 points, defeating the nearest team by 49 points!
“This is a great way to open the meet,” Krev said. “We have some things to improve, but the boys swam great today.”
The season-opening victory included multiple first-place finishes and several state-qualifying performances, giving Lebanon a strong start and plenty to build on as the season continues.
